After All

What seemed to be pushed behind one’s consciousness will take its toll and revenge on one’s peaceful dream.

In my reality
I have let you go—
for so long, I have.
You are now
nothing but a shadow
of what it once was.

But in my dream
you are back—
a man in a silver screen
walking with such pride,
enormous and alive.
Dancing me away from truth,
and into nothingness
with a smile so reckless,
eyes penetrating mine,
while your mouth breathes fantasies—
destructing the strongest walls
I thought I’ve ever built.

Then finally,
When I wake, the reality I boast
of letting go is history.
If I can,
I would scream,
deny and shove you away.
But it only took a dream
to rouse from the lies
I’ve wrapped myself with
in the weep of times.

Because, through high and fall,
who my heart yearn
is always you—
After all.
